on Aug 6th, 2008Download 2008 Fantasy Football Rankings: Top 200 Players and more
We’re Football Fanatics and we are legion. A legion of sociopathic screaming fans vicariously sucking the blood and marrow from our deformed hulking heroes. From our skinny maladroit frames we sit, screaming imprecations at our chosen gladiators flying across the field performing feats imagined in our most vivid and blood-lust filled dreams.
It’s simulated war, and we crave it.
To satisfy our craving we made a game of it, a way for us mere mortals to join in and pretend we belong to their world. And we called it Fantasy Football and it was good. And then the internet refined this pen and paper game of ledgers, calculators and sports pages results into a pure drug ready to be digitally mainlined right into our feverish brains.
And I’ve got your needle and spoon right here. Because there’s no getting high without a fresh set of gimmicks. And, kiddos, the first time is free. After that you’ll pay and pay and pay. You’ll lose your job, your spouse will spit on your name, your kids are gonna call a new man daddy, your dog will piss on your leg, and your cats will lick their butts in ecstasy over the bitter ruination of your life. BUT YOU WON’T CARE! Because with our downloadable spreadsheets you’ll be totally dominating your office league. And isn’t that all that matters?
Here’s the breakdown. Pay attention there will be a quiz, and it will all go down on your permanent record. Got that babies? Good.
All these links link to spreadsheets stored in Google Docs, to download them click at the top left on “file” and then select “export”, you’ll be able to save it in a variety of formats. If you find these spreadsheets useful link back to me if you can.
Enough talking, here are the drugs I mean stats.
Top 200 Players and Analysis
This spreadsheet has the top 200 players from 2007. The final column is called “fanpts” and it is the players fantasy points total for the year using my leagues scoring system. Our scoring system is as follows:
(passyd/25)+(passtd*4)+(inter*-1)+(rushyd/10)+(recyd/10)+(total_td*6) you should adjust that formula to meet your own needs and scoring system.
Additionally this spreadsheet contains:
- The top 20 players by year going back to 2000.
- The top 20 players by position for 2007
- Player fantasy points totals going back 3 years
Those additional tabs allow a more complete set of analysis so that you can evaluate players over time, and look at the available players per position.
2007-2004 Seasons
A spreadsheet with all the players season records going back to 2004.
2007 Games
A spreadsheet with each players stats by week by game. Incredibly valuable for evaluating a players performance over course of a season. Who got stronger? Who got weaker?
Master File
This is a file with each players name, and a unique id that you can use to cross-reference to the games and seasons files. Put all three of these things together and you would have a football stats relational database… Interested in something like that? Let me know in the comments.
Enjoy!
