Sorry for the delays. Its been a hectic 2 weeks. My mom went into the hospital with a blood clot in her lung. Also known as a pulmonary embolism. She’s fine now, and back home and almost fully recovered. Although it will take a few months for her body to completely dissolve the clot. In the meantime she’s on a blood thinner regimen.

Her coming home completely ok was more or less a holiday miracle.

We were down there for almost a week where I spent 4 nighs sleeping on a hospital waiting room couch.

It was great the way things came together. My brother and dad easily split the days sitting at the hospital with my mom, and then in the early evening I would drive over, spend some time with my mom and whoever else was there and then sleep out in the waiting room in case something happened during the night.

Meanwhile my indescribably wonderful wife, Julia, stayed at my parents house cooking meals and fielding phone calls.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Julia was during this. She was stuck at my parents house during most of this time juggling our daughter, meals, daily laundry, and constant phone calls from extended family, friends, and church members. And as if that was not enough for her final act she cooked a delicious Thanksgiving feast for us.

When something like this happens you learn a lot about your partner. Julia proved to be nothing less than a miracle in her selflessness and giving. Knowing you have someone you can depend on like that is a great comfort, and I only hope that someday I can repay her.
